Admission requirements and topics

For admission requirements and application procedure please check the call in the "Downloads" area on the right.

Only the Italian version of the call is legally binding.

In order to be admitted in the School, applicants must be in possession of an Academic title which grants access to a third level education programme (PhD) in the country it has been issued.

Deadline: June 16, 2020, hrs. 04.00 PM (Italian time, GMT +2)

The application must be completed and submitted by the above deadline, solely by the online system:
https://webapps.unitn.it/Apply/en/Web/Home/dott
The application which you must select is "Doctoral School in Information and Communication Technology 36th cycle - First Call 2020"

Please note that applicants who do not have an account at the University of Trento must register in advance at: https://www.unitn.it/account

The application shall be subject to the payment of an application fee - non-refundable - amounting to € 15 to be paid by credit card, according to the instructions given in the application.

Applicants are advised to register well in advance with respect of the deadline because the issue of the username and password (sent via email), necessary to enter UNITN’s online services, may require up to 2 working days.

The administration strongly recommends that applicants ensure that they have received the notification email confirming the definitive completion of the application procedure.
Applicants are asked not to wait until the last days prior to the deadline before submitting their applications.

During the filling out of the online application, applicants must choose which research area and no more than two project specific grants (reserved topic scholarships) within the area they are interested to apply for.

Applicants who have submitted the application by the deadline and made the payment of the application fee may also opt for any scholarships on reserved topics (additional reserved topic scholarships) that will be made available AFTER the publication of the present call by using the additional online application http://www.unitn.it/en/apply/dott that is available only from May 26 to June 16, 2020, at 04.00 PM (Italian time, GMT +2).

During the filling out the additional online application, applicants can choose one or more additional reserved scholarship in the same research area. The total number of chosen scholarships (additional + main online application (max 2)) cannot exceed 3. All the scholarships must belong to the same Research Area selected in the main application.

To access the additional online application applicants must use the same credentials as for the main application.

Considering the current medical emergency, those who cannot produce a valid certificate and don't fall into the exceptions listed in the Application Online are allowed to upload a declaration stating their own B2 level in English. Admission to the Doctoral programme for successful applicants who have submitted a declaration will be conditional. The applicant  will have to submit a valid certificate by October 31, 2020, on penalty of exclusion.
